In the absence of Light
Darkness prevails
The BPRD was founded by Theodore Roosevelt in the 1940's to combat Hitler's growing mastery of the occult, strongly affiliated with the FBI. Since then, it has spread to keeping the nasties and nightmares of the world at bay just so the world can sleep peacefully at night.
There are things that go bump in the night and we are the ones that bump back.

Pierce Hawkins is our favorite player of the moment! He has always made a constant effort to be included in storylines and plays well with others. He is both patient and eager, great qualities we love to see.

Sister Angel is the favorite character of the moment! She's a nun with a sword that kicks paranormal butt and still has time to be a mentor. What more could you love?

Our favorite quote of the moment. Abe's usual wisdom from the thread: Some thing never change.

The World We Play In
[ ]The BPRD
Located in Trenton, New Jersey the unassuming waste management facility is in fact a cover for the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense. Charged with protecting America and the world from the occult, paranormal and supernatural the Bureau is home to many oddities, including the infamous Hellboy. A trip down the elevator shaft brings you into the honeycomb hive like structure of the facility where it is categorized in numbered sections. A labyrinth of hallways and corridors lead you to literally hundreds of places from the late Professor Broom's office turned library to the Ready Room used for missions and statements.

[ ]North America
This continent probably has the greatest variety of legends and tales surrounding paranormal and supernatural activity. From similar tales of ghosts that haunt roads and bridges across the continent to UFO sightings and more localized paranormal activity, it’s no wonder so much focus is placed on the supernatural in certain associations of the United States, Canada and Mexico. These combined with shady scientific operations and laboratories, the BPRD would likely have its hands full with just these countries alone.

[ ]South America
From the moving coffins of Barbados and far reaching chupacabra legend, South America is certainly not behind the other continents in strange occurrences worthy of the BSRD’s notice. Though it may seem less active as far as the supernatural goes, as a result of one particular incident years ago, our bureau has keep a very close eye on the countries of the continent, and most paranormal activity has stayed out of the public radar as a result.

[ ]Europe
The continent of Europe is not without its share of superstitions and the paranormal. Scotland claims the residence of the infamous Loch Ness Monster and the origin of the banshee and water wraith legends while London, England seems to be a hotspot for ghoulish guests and haunted castles abound throughout the continent.
00
[ ]Asia
For centuries Asia has been an unprecedented land of myth and fantasy. From dragons to heroic warriors, this continent has always been host to a variety of fantastic tales, passed on over centuries. But who can say for certain what realities may be found in this enchanted land?
00
[ ]Africa
Land of the dry Sahara and the ancient Pharaohs. You don’t have to look far to come across the many legends and myths concerning the supernatural and strange about this second-largest and second most-populous continent.
00
[ ]Australia
Land of kangaroos, koalas, and emus as well as the less enticing: the dangerous drop bears of the bush and the mysterious min min lights of the outback, Australia is no stranger to the realm of legends and the supernatural. The land “down under” also has its share of haunted hotels, ghosts and the ghost ship Alkimos.
00
[ ]Antarctica
Though now a frozen no-man’s land, legends of many cultures reference a civilization of superior wealth and power – and extraordinary abilities, which was wiped out by some large catastrophe. Other rumors concerning the southernmost continent reference the lost city of Atlantis – which many believe to be the explanation for a strange formation that lays beneath the Antarctic ice. Perhaps there’s more to this frozen continent than meets the eye.

[ ]Elven Kingdom
A majestic crumbling empire of elves kept secret from the upper worlds. What could be mistaken for a oil refinery, the entrance is hidden within an old abandoned warehouse. Upon entering there are a league of Butcher guards, guarding the entrance to the kingdom. Once you disarm yourself of any weapon you posses you are free to enter the King's council. Massive pipes rise up like columns and at the stretch of a long hall is a large throne chair. Often councilmen, lords and ladies are seated on opposite sides of the room. The wall behind the throne pipes splay out in the vague fashion of tree limbs, perhaps a foreshadowing of the future of the elven race.

[ ]Troll Market
Located underneath the Brooklyn Bridge and reached via the back of a butcher shop, it’s one of the few places where freaks don’t feel like outcasts. Magical beings are the only ones who can access the market, a haven crowded with potion vendors and artifact mongers that’s been hidden from human eyes for millennia. Entered via a 12’-high circular doorway comprised of rotating gears—an intricate locking structure that few can interpret—the Troll Market is packed to the rafters with everything an underworlder might need: discarded items from the city above, off-market novelties such as human skin, a barber shop, an opium den, a giant meat grinder and a community message board. It’s also, naturally, packed with trolls.

[ ]Bethmoora
Once a brilliant and beautiful city, it has been reduced to rubble and ash over the hundreds of years, destroyed by the very presence of the Golden Army. Built into the caverns of the world, remnants of massive column holding up once towering architectures surround the center structure of the army. Littered like lost toys the Golden machines have been abandoned and forgotten and left to rot in silence.

[ ]The Angel of Death's Lair
If one is lucky to have passage into the lair of the Angel of Death, they must first pass through the Giant’s Causeway, an ancient place of myth and legend in Northern Ireland. It is said a sleeping giant rests beneath the earth and can only be awakened by a magical being. Rising from the depths of the earth the creature's stone stomach opens into a doorway. Through it, one is able to seek passage to the once proud Golden Army and the Angel's Lair. Death's dwelling is a cavern dredged from the stone walls of the earth. Hundreds upon hundreds of jars, vials and vessels line the wall, coated in dust and dirt the amber jar's contents are a mystery. In the very center through the fine layer of sand a world of archaic symbols and tales are etched into the stone floor. Death herself moves the round pillars along the world's timeline keeping in coordinates to the changes.
